About Roots & Revival

The Roots & Revival Festival is an annual travelling celebration that takes place in a different community within West Elgin each year, intentionally showcasing the distinct identity, history, and landscape of our municipality. By rotating locations, the festival creates new opportunities for residents and visitors to explore various neighbourhoods and gathering spaces, while supporting local economic activity and strengthening community connections.

Each year’s site is chosen to celebrate the distinct qualities of the area—whether a welcoming downtown core of one of our small towns or communities, a vibrant public park, or a scenic space near the waterfront of Lake Erie. The festival invites attendees to experience West Elgin in new ways, encouraging visitation and discovery while strengthening connections between local residents and visitors. This approach supports cultural vitality, community pride, and opportunities for regional economic growth through increased engagement with local businesses and experiences.

Roots & Revival proudly supports local artists and musicians by providing a platform to showcase their talent to broad and diverse audiences. Live performances, creative showcases, and interactive experiences are integrated throughout the festival, creating opportunities for cultural expression and artistic development. By featuring regional performers and creators, the festival helps build visibility for local talent while enriching the overall visitor experience.

The festival also highlights local businesses, artisans, and agricultural contributors as part of the broader fabric of our community. These elements reflect the traditions and creativity that shape our region, providing opportunities for vendors and producers to connect with new audiences and strengthen their market reach. By encouraging collaboration among artists, entrepreneurs, and community groups, Roots & Revival contributes to a vibrant local economy and supports sustainable growth.

We strive to keep attendance free for all visitors, ensuring the festival remains accessible and welcoming to everyone. This commitment allows residents and visitors of all backgrounds to enjoy the event and engage in cultural celebration without financial barriers. While admission is free, we encourage attendees to support our vendors, artists, musicians, and local businesses during the festival, helping to drive economic activity and strengthen opportunities for small enterprises across the municipality.

Roots & Revival is more than an event—it is a celebration of place, creativity, and connection. By moving throughout West Elgin each year and offering inclusive access to cultural experiences, we foster community pride, promote tourism, and support the artists, entrepreneurs, and organizations that make our region a vibrant and welcoming destination.
